SSJE: Mary of Bethany: Demonstrating Our Love

March 7, 2018

Today’s Question: What changes when we offer the best of what we have to Jesus?

In today’s prayer journal, I underlined the phrase, “The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.” This comes after Mary has taken the most costly of perfumes and anointed Jesus’ feet.

Mary is such a wonderful example of giving your all; she gives up a prized and expensive possession and uses her beautiful hair to wipe his feet. Unlike Mary, I guard my possessions too closely and take pride in my appearance and demeanor as if I were the creator instead of the creation.

When we give Jesus our all: our possessions and even our own persona, we fill the world with the unmistakable fragrance of being a disciple of Christ. Smelling the blossoms of Springtime reminds me how the atmosphere is perfumed by Christ through us.

Please enter the discussion: What changes when we offer the best of what we have to Jesus?
