The use of beads or other counting device as a companion to prayer has an ancient history with early Christian monastics known as the Desert Mothers and Fathers were reported to have gathered up small pebbles and put them in their pockets. While walking, they would pray and toss a pebble into the sand each time they completed a prayer. When their pockets were empty, they would stop, gather more pebbles, and begin again. Beads or knots on a rope were more convenient and the rosary became a tactile way of focusing our contemplative prayer and meditation. Anglican Rosary Beads became popular in the 1980's. In this small book, each Chapter is designed with verses that can be said within a group or as an individual. Each chapter also has a blank page for personal reflection with words, a doodle, a photograph in black and white or color. It may be a series of musical notes from a favorite hymn. After reading and reflection, the book becomes a unique collection of our relationship with God through the words of the apostle John.
