I’m still enjoying the afterthoughts from the Episcopal Revival I attended in Honduras a few weeks ago. It has fed my inner spirit with healing and revived my desire to live out the warm embrace of the Latino culture. I lived in San Antonio for 10 years before moving to Nashville and still miss my faith-filled friends there.
I joined the Episcopal Church in 2008 and it has been a great decade for me to learn more about myself and my faith.
However, meeting Presiding Bishop Curry and his vision for the church has me even more energized. Recently Presiding Bishop Curry shared: “The Jesus Movement is not a gimmick but an invitation. We are closing down business and reforming our Church into the image of Jesus - it’s gonna be pretty and sweet and will be the transformation of the church to become the body of Christ.”
His enthusiasm for remaking the church in Jesus’ image is infectious!
My favorite photo from my time in Honduras was of the Presiding Bishop after the Peace during Sunday Mass. He had graciously hugged almost everyone in the church and posed for photos. But apparently one girl had gotten left out of his hug.
The photo says it all. My Presiding Bishop acting like Jesus in giving his children a warm embrace and showing how to love one another.
Blessings, my friend,
Agatha
