Be strong and courageous
BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS
The feast day of St. George the patron saint of England is celebrated each year on April 23. St. George is remembered as a martyr having given his life in witness to the Gospel. Very few details of his life have survived but he is recognized as the patron saint of soldiers and legend says that he slayed a dragon. The dragon story was probably developed from Greek mythology with the dragon representing evil in the world. The St. George’s Shield, a white shield emblazoned with a red cross—is the basis of the Episcopal Church flag and seal.
Joshua 1:9
Three times the Lord spoke to Joshua, “Be strong and courageous”. The last time the Lord added, “I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
