SSJE: The Beloved Disciple: Near to the Heart of Jesus

March 4, 2018

Today’s Question: Imagine Jesus sitting next to you on the couch. What do you binge watch together?

Br. Geoffrey Tristram introduces this week’s theme on the Beloved Disciple. I think John called himself the Beloved Disciple not because others weren’t beloved, but that is what gave John his identity. More than being a brother, son, or fisherman, he was first and foremost beloved of God, and a Disciple of Christ.

I don’t watch much TV and have never binge watched, so this is a bit of a difficult question for me to answer. This week, we are introduced to people who recognize Jesus. I think that instead of watching TV together, I’d be engaged in a conversation with Jesus. First, learning as much as I can and then embracing in a delicate hug, resting on his bosom. Words of encouragement and the warmth of touch are what the world needs today.

Please enter the discussion: Imagine Jesus sitting next to you on the couch. What do you binge watch together?
