Today’s Question: How were you introduced to Jesus?
Br. Jim asks how we came to know Jesus. I’d have to credit my mother for starting me on that trajectory, making me go to church each Sunday where I was exposed to gospel readings and sermons. I’d say that I really came to know Jesus later in my post-college years through a variety of friendships, mostly peers that invited me to join them in a different denomination where Jesus was emphasized even more.
Br. Jim goes on to ask, “How is it that we can become evangelists?” I reflect on a Billy Graham Crusade I attended in Oklahoma City in 1983 with my newfound friends. I didn’t go forward but was amazed at the sincerity of Mr. Graham as well as the audience who demonstrated a hunger to know Jesus as a friend. I was in awe at how comfortable they were in speaking of their faith in their community and their workplaces.
I’m heading to Honduras in a few weeks to participate in an Episcopal Revival. I hope to renew that Spirit that I saw in 1983 who so openly spoke with others about their faith.
Would you consider joining me? Details are here: https://www.episcopalchurch.org/episcopal-revivals. (Send me a message if you want to hear more and join our group to Honduras!)
