Merry Christmas
I wish all a Merry Christmas near and far! We rejoice together in remembering the Lord’s birth.
This is my best Christmas ever, freed of the insecurities that I learned in childhood as well as the fears that I’ve held onto so tight as an adult. It’s been a long journey and I’m still learning, but this year my New Year’s resolution was to Need Less and Love More. It was about putting God first and trusting Him no matter what circumstances faced me.
In needing less, I didn’t become more independent or egocentric, it was just the opposite! Now I delight in relying on friends for help and comfort. Instead of focusing on myself and my needs, I focus on others and how I can help or pray for them.
Tim Keller says “the security of Jesus’ love enables us to need less, and to love more. True love without neediness, is generative; it is the only kind that makes more of itself as it goes along. The fakery and manipulativeness of your own love starts to wash away and you’ve got the patience and security to reach out and start giving a truer love to other people.”
I’m praying that we’ll continue to learn and grow in our faith in 2013. For me, 2012 was a transformative year when I stopped being false and manipulating other people. Now I care more about what God thinks and wants then what the rest of the world demands. I know that God really does love me and wants the best for me.
True love starts by loving God above all things. Then all our other relationships are holy ones, flowing from our first love.
May you have a Merry Christmas and welcome God’s love into your life in 2013!
Blessings, my friend,
Agatha
