How I Know God Controls Everything, even the Internet
We all long to see tangible signs of God’s presence, to know that God really exists. As Christians, we find some comfort that Jesus walked the earth and we have eye witness accounts, but we still want to see with our own eyes that God is real.
Recently, God has started appearing frequently in my life. He’s always been there but I suspect that I am looking more closely. A recent occurrence confirmed for me that God controls everything, even the Internet. Here’s the story.
At the end of every year, I go through my inbox and delete the numerous ads and emails from mailing lists that I never get time to read. In 2015 I had subscribed to both the English and Spanish edition of Brother, Give Us A Word that comes daily to my inbox from the Brothers of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist in Cambridge, MA. However, in December 2015 as I was going through my annual purge, the Spanish edition of Brother, Give Us A Word didn’t make the cut. I was hopeful that it would help me learn more Spanish, but instead it had become another unread email.
Last week I was planning a March 2017 trip to visit my brother and sister-in-law in Nuevo Vallarta where they have retired. I wanted to brush up on my Spanish before my trip and decided to re-subscribe to the Spanish edition of Brother, Give Us a Word, but I couldn’t find the link to subscribe on the SSJE website. I vowed to look again when I had more time over the New Year’s holiday and re-subscribe to the daily email.
On Christmas morning, a surprise present was waiting for me in my inbox! The Spanish edition of Brother, Give Us a Word had arrived, even though I had not re-subscribed! I continue to receive both the English and Spanish editions each day.
After one year of not receiving it, the daily email in Spanish magically began appearing again.
Actually, it’s not magic. It’s God demonstrating that He controls everything, even the Internet.
I pray that we will look, and find, God’s presence everywhere in 2017.
Blessings, my friend,
Agatha
