Time and Space
Today is our longest day on the Camino. I walked 18.3 miles in a little over 9 hours with an early morning rest and time out for lunch.
I’ve never walked that far before, not even close. I learned that when you are on a journey as a Christian, time and space are not measured with scientific principles. I can attest that it didn’t matter if I could walk today’s leg in 7 hours or 12 hours, the time did not matter as the only goal for today was to finish. I can also attest that I can’t measure the distance adequately. After 9 miles and our lunch break, it became only a matter of endurance that was filled with reciting prayers, those names of people that I need to pray for and meeting interesting people along the way.
We had no choice but to put one foot in front of the other and to keep going until we came to the end.
The Camino is filled with little churches where you can get your Pilgrim’s credential stamped to show you were there. This photo is from a tiny church, Iglesia de Santa Maria de Melide that dates back to the 12th century.
Blessing, my friend,
